Rock Paper Scissors By Alice Feeney

What is Rock, Paper, Scissors about? In a nut shell it's a twisty, entertaining domestic thriller...

Feeney has a talent for being able to suck you in, from the very first chapters you find yourself on a winding path, where you are guessing all manner of possibilities...

I, unlike others, didn't guess the main twist until well towards the end.

Oh and I fell in love with Bob!

Love Objects By Emily Maguire

Love Objects is a book that chooses to delve into a variety of topics...
#MeToo movement
class divides
and family disharmony...

...it asks us, how well do we really know those closest to us?

Emily Maquire explores, with a brutal honesty, that we may not know those around us as well as we think. This is a story that does not shy away from the cold, hard facts of life and it doesn't pretend that there's a magic button switch that will fix everything.
Love Objects is a heartfelt story about what it means to be connected to other people...

Girl A by Abigail Dean

A powerful emotional read.
Dean writes this devastating story about Lex Gracie, Girl A, the girl who manages to escape from the House of Horrors.
It is a tale of the cause and effect of power, abuse, and childhood trauma.
This is a challenging, yet thought provoking and compelling read.
Beautiful work Ms Dean.

Bye Bye Baby by Fiona McIntosh

I have come to really enjoy McIntosh's crime tales, and this one is no exception.

Bye Bye Baby is mostly told from the third persons point of view, but the killer's story is told in first person, and that in my opinion adds to the suspense.

As we go deeper into the story we begin to appreciate the full scale of a crime that occurred many years ago, and in so doing we lose any sympathy we may have had for the killer's victims. I so wanted for the killer to get away with it and loved the little twist at the end!

I am about to read the second DCI Jack Hawksworth novel, A Beautiful Death and can not wait!

When You Are Mine by Michael Robotham

Domestic violence, toxic relationships, obsession and police corruption all come into play in this Michael Robotham crime thriller.
Once again we get hooked into a story due to Robotham's ability to keep us interested, not only because the pace is pitched perfectly, with the gripping twists we have come to expect from a Robotham novel.
But perhaps more importantly because the characters are vibrant, dynamic and believable.
When You Are Mine is a very satisfying read!

The Mother-In-Law by Sally Hepworth

Now I never had issues with my mother-in-law, in fact we were really close and I valued and respected her as a friend as well as the mother of the man I fell in love with, so all the jokes about mother-in-laws do not resonate with me and therefore I wasn't too sure how I would feel about this tale...

...meet Lucy, she feels she has never lived up to the expectations that her mother-in-law, Diana, has set, lets be honest Lucy believes Diana despises her.
So when Diana ends up dead things become terribly complicated...

...we are told this story in dual perspectives, Lucy's and Diana's in the present with the odd flashback into the past. It's an interesting story, with not the typical mother-in-law villain you may be expecting.

It's a story of...
 love
family
secrets
money
marriage
resentments
...but most importantly the mystery of human relationships.

False Witness by Karin Slaughter

Karin does it again, she gives us the...
dark
and the
chilling...

This stand-alone story is about sisters, and as I have the most amazing of sisters myself, this one resonates deeply with me.

Callie and Leigh share a past and a dark secret, one that is about to explode into their present.
A thriller with a delightfully dark and gritty vibe.
